Fall Camp Season - Update

Hello Fall 2020 Recreation Families,

We have finished making the groups and have done our best to put players with their friends to make the camp experience both educational and fun.  This email is going to include everything you need to know before you head to the field.

You will receive your group information and start time in a separate email.  Please be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Fields and Times:

Weekday camps are going to be split between two fields.  We will be at Bradley Park on Mondays and at Las Posas Park on Thursdays.  Our weekday session start times are:  4pm, 5:30pm or 7pm and will run for an hour.

The Saturday camp start times are:  9am, 10:30am, 12pm and 1:30pm and will run for an hour.

Your athlete must have:

  • Face mask to wear when not practicing, no face mask, no entry, no exceptions!
  • Shin Guards
  • Their own drink, each player must have their own drink.   Drinks cannot be shared!
  • A soccer ball, your athlete needs to bring their own ball to practice with.  We will have a few balls a player can check-out but it will then become your responsibility to make sure the ball is returned if not you will need to replace the league ball.

Your Athlete should bring:

  • Cleats to give more traction on grass.
  • Athletic apparel

Health and Safety:

In order to hold the camps we have to follow our return to play protocol.  This means that everyone that needs to enter the field area must pass through a health screening, if anyone in a party/family tries to skip this step your player will be asked to leave for the day.

The first and most important step of the health screening, if your player doesn’t feel well, has a temperature or cold please do not bring them.  We will not let them onto the field and it puts other families at risk.  Once you arrive at the field everyone will need to go through a quick temperature check, if their temperature is at or over 100.4 they will not be allowed to enter the field area.  Next, we  will need to sanitize your hands.  It is a quick process but a line may form.  If a line forms please remember to stay 6 feet apart following social distancing guidelines.  Choosing not to follow these guidelines will result in no admission to the field.

In order to reduce the number of people at the field we ask that you drop off your player and then return to your car while they are in camp.  This gives you an hour to do errands kid free.

Drop off and pickup:

Parents and Guardians must drop off their players for the camp.  You are welcomed and for the youngest players encouraged to wait with them during the check in process.  We do encourage the parents of our youngest players to walk them all the way to their starting field.  Once your player is either checked in or at their field you will need to leave the field, we can will only allow players, coaches and staff members to remain at the practice field.

At the end of the camps sessions we encourage you to have your player meet you near the exit or on the sidewalks near the parking lot.  The exit process will be quick but everyone leaving must go out the designated exit.  At that time, we will collect any checked out balls and will sanitize hands again.  For everyone’s sake please do not linger.  We only have 30 minutes between sessions to get everyone out, sanitize our equipment and check the next group in.

Layout for Bradley and Las Posas fields.

Bradley Entrance will be located near field 2.  To get there walk on the right-hand side of the softball fields from the parking lot.

Las Posas will Enter near field 4

We are finishing up a layout for Walnut grove but we will utilize the field numbers for that field.

Thank you all for your patience as we work to get the kids back onto the field.  We appreciate you sticking with us.

Fall Season Update - September 7th

Dear Fall 2020 Recreation Families,

On behalf of City SC San Marcos, I would like to thank you all for sticking with us as we navigate this ever changing pandemic environment.   Based on the current information we have from the State, County and City, it appears unlikely that we will be able to have a "normal" recreation season.  Since we will not be able to offer games at this time, we will change our direction for the Fall 2020 Season.

Introducing the new Fall 2020 Camp season!

Until we reach a point where scrimmages and games are permitted, we are going to run our Fall Season as a series of Camps run by our Professional Coaches, from the Competitive Side of our program, alongside our amazing Volunteer Coaches.  We will be offering two camp sessions a week, one during the week and one on Saturday.  The weekday camp will give the players and our volunteer coaches the opportunity to learn new skills under the guidance of our professional coaches.  The Saturday session will allow them to show how well they have mastered the new skills and get additional instruction to reinforce their training.  Each week of the season will expand on the skills learned the previous week.  This will keep things fresh and will grow their knowledge and confidence.  Please note that we fully intend to offer scrimmages and games for our players once permitted to do so by State, County and City guidelines.

The Fall Camp Season will include:

  • Sessions will begin the week of September 21st.
  • There will be 1 weekday camp and 1 Saturday camp.
  • There will be 3 Professional Coaches at each camp session to work alongside our Volunteer Coaches.
  • Groups will be divided by age group to ensure age appropriate content.
  • We will accommodate friend requests so that players can learn along side their friends.
  • We will provide each player with a Fall 2020 Camp Season shirt with our new City SC San Marcos logo and a new City SC San Marcos sticker.
  • There will be up to 18 professionally run training sessions.
  • The Season will conclude on Saturday November 21.

How much will this cost?

We have adjusted our costs to reflect these changes and help our families.  To that end, for the Lower Division players the cost of the Fall Camp Season is $85 and for the Upper Division players the cost is $95.  For already paid Registrations greater than those amounts, we will provide a refund for the overages.  We will require that Registration Fees for all players are paid before we can roster them into a camp group.

We thank you for being a part of City SC San Marcos and this extraordinary new season of camps.  We look forward to continuing to serve you in this new environment and will keep focusing on the positive impact of soccer for the kids during these changing times.  We certainly hope that you will join us for this new, exciting venture but if you choose to withdraw, we are extending our refund policy deadline through Friday, September 11th.  For a refund request or payment setup, please notify Jacob Sada at: recdirector@cityscsanmarcos.com

What about Referees?

Everyone sees the play differently.

The main goal of the referee is to make the game safe and fun for the children.

Being a referee is not as easy as it appears.  They are a another coach on the field for small sided games.

Remember, many referees are brothers and sisters of soccer players or soccer players themselves. Others are fellow parents trying to just help youth soccer players have FUN!

Recognize that the referee is doing his/her best. It may not be what you saw, but the goal is to let the game be played so that children can have FUN!.

Referees deserve respect and support too!

Helping the referee to call the trip or a foul only confuses children.

Disagreeing hurts you child's respect for the referee, and may hurt the view of the referee towards your child's team.

Criticism causes referees to quit rather than become better. Many referees quit due to being yelled at by parents.

As you cheer for the players, cheer for the referees too.
